Elena Michailidi

Director  ·  Producer  ·  Performer

Elena Michailidi is a theatre artist and performance creator from Greece who lives and works in London, bringing a distinctive fusion of theoretical and embodied practice to her work. With a philosophical foundation in aesthetics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and musical training in harmony, she pursued wide and intensive professional training across different theatrical genres before completing her acting education with honors at the Superior Drama School Andreas Voutsinas. Her 15+ years of professional experience spans Greece's independent theatre landscape—from the Drama Studio of Thessaloniki to Off Art dance theatre and Mikros Vorras Theatre Group—across contemporary drama, dance theatre, performance, and collaborative work.

In London, she has evolved as assistant director with Theatre Lab Company and PRAXIS Oxford festivals. Holding an MA in Arts Policy and Management from Birkbeck, Elena made her directorial debut with ...and Juliet, weaving together her Greek theatrical heritage with her exploration of physical languages and cross-cultural artistic dialogue.

Building on this first cycle of independent artistic research, she now serves as Associate Director of embodied readings (δραστικό κείμενο) — a Festival of Contemporary Greek Theatre developed with Theatre Lab Company, translating two decades of empirical practice into a named methodology and institutional framework for bringing contemporary Greek dramaturgy to London and international audiences.
